I have now samples 2/3 rds of Parkdales drinking and dining establishments. Solera has terrific service, decent pub food and excellent beer. Their Black Rose is wonderful. On a nice day sit out back with a brew in hand, eat their free popcorn and take in the awesome view of Mt. Hood.

Serious fly infestation. A warning for others, like me, who can't tolerate them. We decided to lunch elsewhere, a disappointment, since it was our specific destination in exploring gorge breweries today.

I've been to Solera once, on a really beautiful Sunday afternoon (literally drove from Portland just to hang out at Sera then drive back). I would definitely go out of my way to be there on a nice day, but would be less excited if the weather isn't good. I didn't have any of the service or food issues mentioned by others - we only ordered beer and went up to the bar to get it. I thought the service was friendly. While there we tried three beers (this was a few months ago so my memory is a little hazy - I'm blaming it on the time and not the alcohol). My favorite was the apple blossom which was very crisp and refreshing, with a nice mellow fruitiness. We also tried the framboise, which I liked, and a kefir lime beer, which wasn't quite my speed. All that aside, the view from Solera is breathtaking. They have an outdoor area (grassy field behind the brewery that has been roped off) that extends into a big grassy meadow, with Mt. Hood towering just beyond. It is really peaceful and relaxing, and a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

I can see why this place is popular with the locals, there is a beautiful view of Mount Hood in the yard. We came here for a beer and light dinner while staying in town for a night. Solera was recommended by our hostess and also it was the only business open after 8 p.m. in the immediate area. The service was TEDIOUSLY slow. It seemed like most people were locals and many knew the bartenders/servers. I felt like my partner and I were definitely given some curios stares by the locals, since I presume everyone knows each other here. It took a LONG time to get the waitress's attention to take our order (you had to order the food from her). Then it took a moderate amount of time to get our order. TAKEAWAY: Try the burrito (add on pulled pork for $2). It is GIANT and really yummy. Good for 2 people.

Had a great range of tasty beers and ciders to try. My favorite was the sour raspberry called Izzy Stardust but they were all good. Great views and a charming town to visit. We stopped on our way to Lost Lake.

Came here for a pit stop on our weekend away. The beers they offer are awesome - the Scottish and Red ales are delicious. Decided to stay for lunch, and I'm glad we did! The vegetarian wild rice burger is freaking awesome! Service is awesome in this cool, laid back and hidden gem.

Beautiful view, decent food, only ok beer. Unfortunately the beer quality here is homebrew level, especially with the local competition. We tried the hedonism ipa, long division [american sour], and french tickler [saison]. They were all just a tad too flavorless or unnecessarily bitter/funky tasting. We ordered the huge bean and rice burrito and they aren't kidding they are very big and pretty delicious; we love cabbage in our burritos. The outside space is great with amazing views of Mount Hood. Worth the stop when you're in Hood River or post Lost Lake hiking.

Solera Brewery was our first brewery stop on this day out at the Fruit Loop. There is never a time that a beer doesn't sound like a good thing to Sue and I. Doesn't mean we drink constantly. We just enjoy good beer and love finding small and local places in towns like this. It definitely felt like a local crowd here on a Saturday afternoon. With the weather being the way it was (rainy and drabby) it certainly seemed to push people indoors. It is too bad as Solera talks about their killer views of Mt. Hood from their back patio. It looked like a nice back patio, but nobody was sitting out there on this day. We grabbed a few seats at the bar and were told that if we wanted to sample anything that we could. We each sampled a few and decided on what we wanted. Sue had one of their popular offerings that apparently is only offered for a limited time. The Chubby Bunny is a Double Fresh Hopped IPA and is fairly strong at 9.5% ABV. Not as hoppy as you would think. I had their 2012 Kriek which was made with local Lappin cherries. This was served in a 10 oz glass as this style usually is. Aside from the killer amount of fruit flies buzzing around we really enjoyed our time here. The bartenders were super friendly and the space was quite comfortable. A former movie theater, it still held some of the charm (including some of the light fixtures) from those bygone days.

Best beer and best view in the gorge! Food is inconsistent but ok, service is good.

When I was contemplating moving to Portland some 13 years ago or so, my friend Jason and went on an overnight backpacking trip to Mt. Hood. And on Sunday, on our way home, we drove through Parkdale. There was a little pub there, staffed by Oregon granolas. They had some beers on tap and food. Burritos and such if memory serves. And they had a patio out back where you could sit and drink. And that view from that patio is one of the most spectacular, warm, inviting, pastoral landscapes in the Pacific Northwest. It overlooks a farm, and behind it, acres and acres of apple orchard--the trees pink and white with gorgous apple blossoms. And behind those orchards Mt. Hood looms large. It consumes most of the skyline. The angle is roughly Northwest, so the Eliot glacier and the north face gullies figure prominently. It's dumbfoundlingly beautiful. It feels like drinking beer in an Akira Kurosawa film. I fell in love with this view, and with this pub. It's one of the things that ultimately sold me on moving to Portland. Then that pub eventually closed down. How very sad... But now it's open again! And they're not only serving beer out there in Parkdale. They're BREWING beer out in Parkdale. It's now the Solera Brewery. And the patio and the view are the same and as gorgeous as ever. I was there this weekend and the apple blossoms are in full bloom. What a glorious time to be in Parkdale for a beer! The beers are pretty decent, although as someone accustomed to PNW hop bombs, I found the IPA to read more like a pale ale (not hoppy enough). The smoked porter was much closer to style. The food is still more or less hippie fare. I had fajitas and tortilla soup, and rather than having those familiar Mexican flavors it tasted, well, like hippie food. But it's still very muchable and tastey. They also have a popcorn machine there, and you can eat free bowls of popcorn with your beer. Everyone is super friendly and inviting. I am so happy brew-fueled mountain gazing is back! Thank you Solera Brewery!

Apparently this brewery has been open for almost a year? Where the hell have I been? What is my EXCUSE? I stopped in here after a day of teaching some mountaineering skills up on Hood. I decided to the long way home and shoot some star shots of Mt Hood. I loaded up my phone and apparently there was a BREWERY close to my location? I hit "navigate" not expecting there to be an actual brewery and, sure enough, *BOOM* there it was. Like a City on the Hill (thanks for the phrase Puritans, RIP). I walked in and ordered a beer. It was probably pretty obvious that I had never been here before, and everyone made me feel at home. The bartender was very nice and the brewer sat next to me and we chatted it up about brewing for over an hour...and it was a GOOD chat, the kind you have with someone and think "we're going to be good buds someday". It didn't hurt that our tastes in beer and hops and landscapes (PacNW till the day I DIE) were pretty similar. Their IPA and Cascadian Dark were very good. And they had one of my all-time favorite beers (Boneyard IPA) on as a guest tap. If I lived in Parkdale (I wish), I'd be here every day. As it stands, I'll be back soon. Gotta see that gorgeous North Face in the summer :) The view here is worth at least a million dollars, unlike that *other* brewery on the *opposite* side of the mountain.

Was excellent! We had a local cider and some sandwiches and enjoyed the great view from their terrace. The only complaint would be that all the sandwiches come with potato chips - it would be nice to get a salad on the side or some alternative.

*sigh* It just isn't Elliot Glacier anymore. Taco Night is a distant memory. That being said, I experienced good service, the cider on tap is from HR cider works and is a favorite of mine, the clientele is an eclectic mix of red necks (I use the term affectionately) and yuppie tourists (slightly less affection), and best of all: they make the best Reuben I've had in a while. I scoured Portland for great Reuben's and they pale compared to Parkdale's own. The return of taco night would garner a 5 star rating. Otherwise, I couldn't recommend it more!

I'm just sorry we only had time to taste and not to eat! We will be going back soon. We just finished buying a cart full of groceries and spied this lovely micro brewery in a old fashioned store front. We walked in and were overwhelmed with the selection of beers on tap with names like "intentionally aroused" " hedonistic impulse" something smoked". The darling petite blond recommended a beer flight. We boarded! We had a lot of fun comparing the beers and eating popcorn to clear our palates. Just too bad we had so many perishables in the van and couldn't stay to eat. I was very interested in the Kale salad.

I've been here three or four times on our annual trips out to get fruit in parkdale or after a hike up the mountain. We love the cute town and the amazing view out back. The food is good and the beer is even better. However, the last visit they took 45 MINUTES to get a bowl of chili and a bean and cheese burrito out to our table and it was not that busy. Only about one other group other than the two of us. I am aware that they probably have a small kitchen and staff but it should never take that long for basic lunch food. I don't think I'll be coming back for awhile. I can catch that nice view of Mt. Hood from the park anyway

Solera is a place I must stop into, whenever I'm in the area. Their beers are very tasty and the view of Mt. Hood, on clear days, is magnificent.

Amazing views, superb people, delicious beverages, tasty food, free popcorn. Solera is the bomb. With a focus on beer they still do a killer job making sure nobody goes hungry (even with a very modest kitchen operation) and they've got some options for the non-traditional-beer-drinkers like gluten free beer in a bottle, wine (white and red flavored) and soda. If you're hungry get a burrito WITH pulled pork, they are huge and will not disappoint. All the sandwiches and salads are great and they try to source their ingredients locally when possible. The staff is awesome and general customer base is a nice mix of tourists, vacationers and locals.

Fantastic view for relaxing with a tasty beer (French Tickler) went for the hummus plate, not disappointed at all. Great afternoon spot on a warm Sunday in July. Ps: my son loved the grilled cheese!

Absolutely love this place! We stopped here for the first time today and tried their assortment of beers and lunch. The IPA and veggie burger are superstars in my book...and the view...a view that can't be beat! Mt. Hood off the back patio. We'll absolutely be back.

This place was the highlight of my Recent Mt. Hood Railroad debacle. One beer and a bean and cheese burrito put me back on track to having a good day (see recent Mt. Hood Railroad review.) The waitstaff is attentive, cool and conversational - a huge reprieve from Portland's hustling and bustling wait staff. Oh yeah and FREE POPCORN I mean come on..... it's almost too good to be true.

Found this place after researching breweries in Mount Hood. Man am I glad I did! Super cute place with what would have been a bomb view of Mount Hood if it was a clear day. Did a sampler of their beers and all were tasty. The ISA was my favorite. Ordered the veggie burger and the hummus platter. Burger was absolutely delicious! I would come back just for that. Hummus plate was good but nothing jaw dropping. Adding this to my "must do" list while visiting Hood River

The best brewery view in Western Oregon. The beers are top notch with the neighboring competition. Chips (Juanitas!!!) and salsa are delicious. I'd prefer a better sausage over the mediocrity of Zenners but the brews more than make up for it. WIFI is pretty patchy but a noble effort to a non wifi brewpub industry, especially in unincorporated territory. Any beer lover/ snow boarder/ mountain biker/ weekend worrier would love this place. And Mt. Hood looks humongous!!!!!!!

Free popcorn! The best beer in the hood river valley. The nicest guys you could ever hope to meet. The best view of Mt Hood. Vegetarian friendly. Great people! You can't go wrong. The food is great! Order the food if your hungry but the beer is what you came for. Have lots of that. But be safe and have a designated driver so you can drink all you can.

About 5 or 6 brews on tap plus a guest tap. Among each of my group, we tried them all and each was pretty good. My favorite was a "grisette"; a style of beer I'd never heard of before, but reminded by of a Belgium-style farmhouse ale. There red ale was also great. As mentioned in the previous review, free popcorn; a great touch. Didn't eat from themenu, but those nearby did and the food looked, again, pretty good. What gives this place its five stars is 100% its location. Situated in the previous Elliott Glacier House, the back patio of the brewery gives an outstanding, magnificent view of Mt. Hood. I drive from Portland a few times each summer to get this view. The fact that the guys at Solera are brewing some great beer to go along with it is the icing on the cake. Well worth the drive up from Hood River.

Decent beer and bar, fantastic views, especially on a clear day. Worth a stop for a pint if you're in the Parkdale area. If you're looking to eat more than free popcorn, avoid the menu here and head across the street to Apple Valley BBQ. You can still drink Solera at the BBQ if you want.

Fantastic view and fantastic beers. I've been coming to Parkdale for many years. Solera Brewery has taken over the old Eliot Glacier brew pub and turned it into a gem. The beers are great. I love the IPA and Stout but fell Plum Crazy over the plum beer. We like the pub food too. They have a giant burrito of $6. Free pop corn and $1 for a bowl of peanuts. The Mt Hood view out the back is the best there is in the Hood River area. My family has made this into a regular weekly stop.

I went here years ago when it was Elliott Glacier pub, was in the area yesterday so decided I'd stop in and check out the new place. The view from this place is the best of any brewery I've ever been to except maybe Pelican out on the coast. Mount Hood is literally right in front of you and looks huge. It was kindof a weird vibe though, lots of kids and dogs running around the back patio made it less than enjoyable. There must have been 10 little kids running around so I went inside. The inside was just as I remembered it from years ago. The bartender got into a verbal altercation with a couple guys sitting at the bar which was strange and uncomfortable. I finished my beer and took off. Beer was ok, I had an IPA not bad but not great either. I'd come back its one of the best views of Mount Hood you can get.

Great beer. You must try the IPA but the seasonal specialities are also good (especially the Berliner Weisse). Tasty food, friendly staff.
